The Finale of the Outstanding Rising Artiste Exhibition

Twelve Brilliant Views

We organize a group show named “Finale Sembatsu Shorei” of 12 artists (Koichi Hiraki, Masayuki Yamoto, Ruka Fukui, Nobutaka Gondoh, Takuro Goto, Koji Iwaoka, Akira Nakatani, Hiroko Tanaka, Kenpei Yunde, Katsuya Sugimoto, Ayumi Suzuki, Saori Ono) who won the first prize in the exhibition “Outstanding Rising Artists Exhibition” held by Sompo Japan Fine Art Foundation for past 12 years.

Sompo Japan Fine Art Foundation has been awarding “Shorei-Sho” or“Outstanding Rising Artists Award”to art organization groups since 1977, and organizing an exhibition of those award wining artists since 1981. From 2001 on, the exhibition has been introducing works of 36 winning artists along with works of 30 recommended artists under the age of 50. Furthermore, as a contest exhibition, works of true excellence have been selected from among those on display and given special recognition.

We introduce around 76 works by 12 artists in this “Finale Sembatsu Shorei” exhibition in order to recognize the significance of our past mission of raising and supporting emerging artists and to pass this mission on to the next exhibition “FACE (Frontier Artists Contest Exhibition).” The “FACE” exhibition will be the successor to the “Outstanding Rising Artists Exhibition” and will show works of artists selected among public entry works.

We will organize “FACE” exhibition every year as well as a group show of artists who will win prizes in the “FACE” exhibition every three years. Our mission of raising and supporting emerging artists will be fulfilled with these two exhibitions at our museum from this year on.
